Honor has quietly introduced the X8e 4G, a new entry-level smartphone that shares most of its specifications with the Honor X7e Plus 4G, which debuted in August. The device has appeared on Honor’s Azerbaijan website, with local retailers listing it for AZN 820, approximately $480. Another retailer offers it for AZN 688, making it around 17% more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy A08 4G, which costs AZN 590. However, Honor’s listed configuration includes 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, compared with the Galaxy’s 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

One of the phone’s biggest highlights is its 108MP main camera, an unusually high-resolution sensor for an entry-level device in this price category. However, its processor limits video recording to 1080p. The Honor X8e 4G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685, a 6nm chipset featuring Cortex-A73 and Cortex-A53 CPU cores alongside an Adreno 610 GPU.

The smartphone supports dual nano-SIM connectivity with 4G networks. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2 with support for LDAC, aptX HD and LHDC 5.0, and NFC. On the software side, it runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16 out of the box.

The Honor X8e 4G features a 6.87-inch LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1,592 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 1,020 nits. The display also houses a 5MP front-facing camera in a punch-hole cutout. These specifications appear to match the screen used on the Honor X7e Plus 4G.

The main difference between the two smartphones is battery capacity. The Honor X8e 4G packs a 7,700mAh battery with support for 45W Honor SuperCharge, while the X7e Plus 4G features a larger 8,100mAh battery. Despite the difference, both devices share the same 8.3mm thickness and 218g weight.

Durability is another major selling point. The Honor X8e 4G carries IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, providing protection against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water jets, including those involving high temperatures. Honor also claims the device can withstand high-humidity, salt-rich environments and extreme temperatures ranging from -30°C to +50°C.

Additional features include a display that can register touch input in rainy conditions, a dedicated underwater photography mode, and a five-star impact resistance rating from SGS, with testing involving drops from heights of up to 2.5 metres. Honor also says the phone is designed to remain operational for at least six years.

The Honor X8e 4G is available in Sunrise Orange, Desert Gold, and Velvet Black.
