Apple is reportedly testing a prototype of the iPhone Duo 2 with a major biometric upgrade. The first generation is reaching customers who preordered last week, and early reviews have highlighted some drawbacks, particularly the Touch ID sensor, which can be difficult to reach depending on how the phone is held and requires users to keep their finger on it to unlock the device.

Face ID is one of the most requested features for the next model. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has confirmed that Apple is testing the iPhone Duo 2 with facial recognition technology.
Speaking on his latest PowerOn podcast, Gurman revealed that Apple is testing prototypes featuring an under display Face ID system. However, it remains uncertain whether the company can bring the technology to the market next year. Its inclusion will depend on whether Apple can make key components, including the dot projector and infrared camera, smaller enough to fit beneath the display.

Gurman also expects Apple to introduce the Action button on the iPhone Duo 2. The physical button is another feature missing from the current model.
