Touchscreen MacBook Leak Strengthens Claims of Major Apple Hardware Shift

Apple has been rumored for some time to be preparing its first touchscreen MacBook, and a new leak from Chinese tipster Instant Digital adds more weight to those claims.

The leak reiterates earlier reports suggesting that an upcoming MacBook model will feature a touchscreen display. However, the tipster did not specify which MacBook model is involved, though previous leaks have pointed toward a possible “MacBook Ultra” variant.

To date, no MacBook has included touchscreen functionality, but macOS 27 Golden Gate introduces subtle changes that hint at touch-first interactions. These include touch input support through Sidecar when using an iPad as a secondary display, as well as interface cues such as pull-down-to-refresh gestures appearing in Apple apps like Safari, Mail, and News.

Earlier reports suggest the touchscreen MacBook will feature an OLED display with touch input support, along with contextual menus that adapt based on where the user interacts on the screen. It has also been speculated that the device could include a Dynamic Island-style cutout.

The laptop is also expected to be powered by Apple’s next-generation M6 chip. However, these upgrades may come at a cost, with estimates suggesting starting prices could be around 20% higher than current MacBook Pro models.
