vivo has continued teasing the X Fold6 ahead of its expected launch later this month. After confirming OriginOS 6 Fold and its productivity-focused software features, the company has now revealed the processor that will power the upcoming foldable.

A vivo executive announced on Weibo that the X Fold6 will be the world’s first foldable smartphone equipped with the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset.
According to vivo, the customized processor has been in development for more than two years and was specifically optimized for foldable devices. The company says it delivers smoother multitasking, faster rendering in multi-window scenarios, improved AI capabilities, and better power efficiency.

vivo claims peak AI computing performance is up by 111% compared to the previous-generation NPU, while power consumption has been reduced by 56%. The chipset is also said to provide 7% faster offline speech recognition and voice transcription, alongside a 57% improvement in text generation speed.
The company further states that the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition offers up to a 20% increase in AI reasoning performance, highlighting vivo’s strong focus on AI features for the X Fold6.
The foldable is also rumored to feature a 6,900mAh battery and an 8-inch inner display.
