OnePlus Turbo 7 Could Bring Major Camera and Display Upgrades

OnePlus launched the Turbo 6 in China in January, and a tipster on Weibo has now shared the first details about its successor. According to the source, the Turbo 7 will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, which is still in development, and OnePlus is reportedly hoping to be among the first brands to launch a phone powered by it.

The Turbo 7 is also said to continue OnePlus’ push to bring a 200MP main camera and a 185Hz refresh rate, with 165Hz system-wide, to more of its phones. It will reportedly feature a glass body but no periscope telephoto camera. The tipster says the phone will launch by the end of the year.

Those camera and display specifications match the OnePlus 16, as well as the Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro, which were announced in China last week with cooling fans and 185Hz displays. The Turbo 6, meanwhile, has a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a 165Hz screen, and a 50MP main camera, making the reported upgrades substantial.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 has not been announced yet. A previous leak suggested the upcoming chipset could be called either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro. In late October, Digital Chat Station reported that a OnePlus Turbo Pro was on the way around the end of the year, with that chipset, a 6.78-inch 1.5K 185Hz display, a 200MP main camera, and a battery of at least 9,000mAh.

It is therefore possible that both leaks refer to the same phone.
