Samsung may return to an earlier launch schedule for its Galaxy S27 series, potentially unveiling the lineup in January or February. The Galaxy S26 series arrived in late February and went on sale in early March, reportedly due to a last minute switch from the S26 Edge to the S26+.

According to a Korean tipster, most major hardware decisions for the Galaxy S27 lineup have been made, although questions remain about its memory and storage specifications.
Previous reports suggested that the standard Galaxy S27 and S27+ would use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.x storage, while the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra would feature the newer LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5 storage. However, rising memory costs may prompt Samsung to reconsider these upgrades for the Pro and Ultra models as well.

UFS 5 promises twice the performance of UFS 4.1, with read speeds of up to 10.8GB/s and write speeds reaching 9.8GB/s. It is also expected to deliver up to 40% better power efficiency. Meanwhile, LPDDR6 offers data rates of 10.6 to 14.4Gbps per pin, compared with 8.5Gbps for LPDDR5X.
These upgrades could deliver noticeable performance improvements to the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, but they would also increase manufacturing costs. As a result, the Galaxy S27 lineup could become more expensive, although the extent of any price increases remains unknown.
Another unanswered question concerns the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s chipset. Samsung has yet to clarify whether it will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 or return to an Exynos processor, following reports about potential chipset issues.
