The OnePlus 16 launched in China on Monday and went on sale at 10 AM local time today. Within an hour, OnePlus China president Li Jie announced on Weibo that the company had sold more than 70,000 units.

According to the executive, the result puts the OnePlus 16 ahead of other Android flagship phones launched this year based on comparable initial sales. He described the growth as unusual for the industry. However, OnePlus has not revealed how many units its predecessor sold during the same period, making a direct comparison impossible.
The OnePlus 16 features a 6.78 inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 1272 x 2772 resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, which increases to 185Hz in supported games. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Its camera system includes a 200MP main sensor with optical image stabilisation, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus. There is also a 50MP front camera.

The phone packs a 9,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It also carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. On the software side, it runs ColorOS 17 based on Android 17.
Pricing starts at CNY 5,999, approximately $896.
However, buyers in Europe and North America will miss out on the device following OnePlus’s official exit from both markets in July. Despite its absence from these regions, the strong launch suggests the brand continues to attract considerable interest in its home market.
