Honor has joined the growing trend of smartphones with rear displays, but unlike Xiaomi’s flagship approach, the company is bringing the feature to a much more affordable device. Meet the Honor X5d s, which features a small screen on the back alongside its main camera.

The Honor X5d s has a 6.78 inch LCD display with a 720 x 1576 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and 600 nit typical brightness. On the rear, it features a 2.01 inch display with a 240 x 296 resolution. The phone also has a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, a 5MP f/2.0 front camera and a 6,000mAh battery supporting 15W wired charging. A side mounted fingerprint scanner is built into the power button.

The phone is powered by the Unisoc T610 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It runs Android 16 Go Edition and measures 168.3 x 78.5 x 8.72mm, while weighing 214g. The device has an IP52 rating for protection against dust and rain.

The Honor X5d s is currently listed in South Africa, where it comes with a 15W charger and TPU case in the box.

Honor is heavily promoting the rear screen for taking selfies with the main camera. It can also display call alerts, provide media playback controls and support other functions. This makes the X5d s an unusual budget smartphone, bringing a feature previously associated with flagship devices to a much lower price point.
