Samsung is rolling out a major update to its SmartThings app with version 1.8.51.30. The update redesigns the Home tab and brings changes to the Devices tab. It first became available on iOS and is now rolling out through the Google Play Store and Galaxy Store.

The redesigned Home tab features more compact cards for devices and routines. Users can tap the icon on a card to turn a device on or off or trigger a routine. The cards can also be resized and rearranged based on preference.

The Home tab now includes a Favorites section, making frequently used devices easier to access. It also features SmartThings Now, which displays information such as the weather and suggested routines.

The updated app also improves the process of creating a 3D version of your home. Users can set the dimensions of individual rooms and download 3D models for different equipment and furniture.

Samsung also recently introduced the Samsung Sound app for controlling its Wi Fi connected speakers and soundbars. However, the app is being discontinued, with its functionality set to be integrated into SmartThings instead.
