The September Pixel Drop introduced improvements to the VIP contacts widget, stronger scam detection, and the Pause Point feature for older Pixel models. However, the update also appears to have introduced a serious lockscreen bug affecting multiple users.

One Reddit user reported being unable to complete the pattern lock on a Pixel 10 Pro XL because the screen would reset before they could connect the second dot. Another Pixel 10 Pro XL owner experienced a similar problem but managed to fix it by force restarting the phone using the Power and Volume Down buttons. The first user was unable to find a workaround and eventually had to perform a factory reset.

The problem does not appear to be limited to the Pixel 10 Pro XL or pattern locks. A Pixel 8a user reported using a PIN but receiving a “wrong PIN” message immediately after entering the first digit. Another Pixel 8 Pro owner reported experiencing the same issue.

The problems appear to have a common cause, with the lockscreen seemingly accepting input before users have finished entering their PIN or pattern. Since one digit PINs and one segment patterns are not permitted, this behavior can prevent users from unlocking their devices. Repeated failed attempts can also temporarily lock users out of their phones.

Google’s official PixelCommunity support account has acknowledged the reports and contacted affected users to provide assistance.

Other Pixel owners are also reporting performance problems after installing the latest update. Users with Pixel 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 models have complained about increased lag. Those who have not yet installed the September Pixel Drop may want to wait for a fixed version.
