Apple could be preparing to enter the gaming controller market with two new devices. References discovered in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 release candidate reportedly point to two unannounced controllers, suggesting the company may have more gaming hardware planned.

The code also contains references to several other unreleased products, including camera equipped AirPods and potentially new HomePod mini models. However, the most surprising discoveries are the T6502 and T1057, both of which are identified as game controllers.

Apple does not currently sell its own gaming controller, although the company has previously produced one for the Pippin. Instead, Apple has focused on supporting popular third party controllers from PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and other manufacturers across its platforms.

The leaked references provide some information about what the controllers could offer. Both appear to feature an ABXY button layout, two clickable thumbsticks, shoulder buttons, analog triggers and dedicated Home and Menu buttons.

The T6502 appears to be the simpler model. It reportedly supports USB connectivity but lacks motion sensors, a touchpad, microphone and speaker. It does, however, feature an Options button and four haptic channels, with two channels assigned to each side for potentially more advanced vibration effects.

The T1057 appears to be the more advanced controller, with support for both USB and Bluetooth connectivity. It also reportedly includes an accelerometer and gyroscope, which could provide motion based controls. Unlike the T6502, it apparently lacks an Options button and uses a single haptic motor.

Interestingly, the controller references appeared publicly in the first macOS 26.7 release candidate before being removed from the second version. It remains unclear whether Apple cancelled the devices or simply hid the references.

If these controllers eventually become official products, Apple’s decision to enter the market could signal bigger plans for gaming across its ecosystem. For now, however, there is no confirmation that either controller will actually reach consumers.
