RugOne, a brand owned by Ulefone, has announced the Xsnap 7 Pro, a rugged smartphone with a detachable action camera built into its rear panel. The phone will make its official debut at IFA Berlin, following RugOne’s Xever 7 series launch at the event last year.

The standout feature of the Xsnap 7 Pro is its removable cube shaped camera, which sits inside the back of the smartphone when it is not being used. The camera can record video at up to 2.7K resolution at 30fps.

The detachable camera can reportedly record for up to 40 minutes on a single charge and includes 64GB of internal storage. It connects to the smartphone wirelessly through a companion app, allowing users to control and manage footage from the phone.

When attached to the smartphone, the camera is held in place magnetically. It is also waterproof to a depth of 5 metres, making it suitable for outdoor activities and underwater recording.

The RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro itself features a 50MP main camera with OIS and a 64MP infrared night vision camera supported by dedicated IR LEDs. The rugged handset is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chipset and features a 6.67 inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It also carries an IP69K rating for protection against dust and water.

RugOne will showcase the Xsnap 7 Pro at IFA this weekend before launching it on Kickstarter on September 7. Early backers will reportedly be able to get the phone for €799, while global availability is expected to begin next month at $999.

The Xsnap 7 Pro will be offered in Classic Black and Sand Dune finishes.
