A new leak from China has revealed what could be some of the key specifications of Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip, which is expected to power the iPhone 18 Pro series and the rumored iPhone Ultra. The information reportedly comes from reverse engineering of solder diagrams, giving an early look at the chip’s internal design.

According to the leak, the A20 Pro will retain a 2+4 CPU configuration, consisting of two performance cores and four efficiency cores, but will receive an upgrade to a seven core GPU. The efficiency cores are also said to get 8MB of L2 cache, up from 6MB on the A19 Pro, while the performance cores will retain 16MB of L2 cache.

The leak also points to a wider memory interface, which could give the A20 Pro a significant boost in memory bandwidth alongside the larger GPU. However, details about the system cache and other parts of the chip remain unconfirmed.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Ultra at its September 9 event. The A20 Pro should be officially detailed alongside the new flagship iPhones, giving us a clearer picture of how much of an upgrade it will be over the A19 Pro.
