Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship Snapdragon chipset has made another appearance in a benchmark database, this time powering a device believed to be the iQOO 16. The processor was previously spotted on AnTuTu and is now listed on Geekbench.

Qualcomm is expected to introduce two new flagship mobile chipsets during its Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii from September 22 to 24. The processors are currently associated with the SM8950 and SM8975 model numbers.

An unidentified vivo device carrying the model number V2606A has appeared on Geekbench with 16GB of RAM, Android 17 and the SM8975 chipset. The device is believed to be the upcoming iQOO 16.

The SM8975 was previously expected to be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, but tipster Digital Chat Station claims Qualcomm will instead name it the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The SM8950 is reportedly set to launch as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

Geekbench lists the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 with eight CPU cores. Two cores can reportedly reach 5.01GHz, while three run at up to 4.03GHz and the remaining three reach 3.74GHz.

The alleged iQOO 16 achieved 3,434 points in the single core test and 9,334 points in the multi core test. For comparison, the iQOO 15 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 scored 3,643 and 10,466 points respectively in previous testing.

The lower scores could be explained by the device being a prototype rather than a final retail model. The iQOO 16 has previously been rumored to launch in September, although iQOO has yet to officially confirm a release date.

If the reported specifications are accurate, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 could become one of Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile chipsets when it is officially unveiled next month.
