Apple has refreshed its desktop Mac lineup for 2026 with new Mac mini and Mac Studio models featuring the company’s latest generation M series processors.

The updated Mac mini is now powered by the M6 chip, which is built on a 2nm process and features a 12 core CPU, 12 core GPU and dual 16 core NPU. Apple claims the new CPU delivers the world’s fastest single core performance, while the GPU is said to be twice as fast for graphics and four times faster for AI workloads compared with the M4. The new NPU also delivers twice the previous performance.

The M6 Mac mini starts with 16GB of unified memory and can be configured with up to 32GB. Storage starts at 256GB and can be upgraded to 2TB.

Apple is also offering the Mac mini with an M5 Pro chip, featuring a 15 core CPU, 12 core GPU and a 16 core NPU. It comes with 24GB of memory as standard, configurable up to 64GB, while storage starts at 512GB and can reach 8TB.

Connectivity has also been upgraded with Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and improved 2.5Gb Ethernet, with a 10Gb option available. The rest of the Mac mini design remains unchanged. Pricing starts at $899 for the M6 version and $1,699 for the M5 Pro model.

The Mac Studio has also received an update, with the M5 Max joined by the new flagship M5 Ultra. The M5 Max offers an 18 core CPU with either a 32 core or 40 core GPU. Memory starts at 32GB and can reach 128GB depending on the GPU configuration, while storage starts at 512GB and goes up to 8TB.

The M5 Ultra combines two dual M5 Ultra dies through Apple’s UltraFusion interconnect, delivering 4.4TB/s of bandwidth. The chip comes with either a 30 core CPU and 64 core GPU or a 36 core CPU and 80 core GPU configuration.

Memory starts at 96GB and can reach 512GB on the highest configuration, while storage starts at 1TB and can be expanded to 16TB.

The Mac Studio also gets Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and six Thunderbolt 5 ports. Pricing starts at $2,499 for the M5 Max version and $5,499 for the M5 Ultra model.

A fully configured Mac Studio can currently reach $18,299, although the 512GB memory option will not be available until late October.
