Google is making it easier to remove the visible watermarks added to content created with its AI tools. The company’s Nano Banana image generator has been praised for its image quality, but its visible watermark in the bottom right corner has been a drawback for some users.

Google is now introducing a setting that lets users remove the visible watermark from images generated with Nano Banana. The option is available in Gemini and Flow, and will soon be added to Google’s AI Mode in Search.

The change also applies beyond images. Users will be able to remove visible watermarks from videos generated with Gemini Omni and music created with Lyria. The only exception will be countries where keeping AI watermarks is legally required.

However, removing the visible watermark doesn’t mean Google’s AI content identification is being removed. Invisible SynthID watermarks and C2PA metadata will still be attached to generated content, allowing AI generated images to remain identifiable even without the visible watermark.
