Amazon appears to be preparing the launch of Alexa+ in India, with early testing of a Hindi-language version now underway. The move marks an important step in bringing the company’s AI-powered assistant to one of its largest international markets.
Alexa+, Amazon’s next-generation AI chatbot experience, became widely available in the United States earlier this year. Now, reports indicate that the company has started inviting select users in India to participate in a beta testing program focused on Hindi language support.

According to reports, Amazon sent emails to some customers in India asking them to complete a Hindi-language registration form if they wished to join the testing phase. Participants who successfully enroll will be notified once the Hindi beta experience becomes available.
As with most beta programs, Amazon has cautioned users that the software may still contain bugs and limitations. The company reportedly warned testers that Alexa+ could occasionally provide inaccurate information or struggle with certain local pronunciations and language nuances.
Amazon has confirmed that Alexa+ testing is taking place in India, although it has not yet announced a timeline for a wider public rollout.
The introduction of Hindi support is particularly significant given the language’s widespread use across the country. With hundreds of millions of Hindi speakers, localized language capabilities are considered essential for the success of AI assistants in the Indian market.

Amazon first launched Alexa in India in 2017 with English support before adding Hindi functionality in 2019. The expansion of Alexa+ into Hindi represents the next stage of that localization effort, bringing advanced generative AI features to a much broader audience.
Following its debut in the United States, Alexa+ has expanded to several international markets, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Austria, France, and Germany. In supported regions, Amazon Prime subscribers receive access to the service at no additional cost, while non-Prime users can subscribe through a monthly payment plan.
While an official launch date for India remains unknown, the start of Hindi-language testing suggests Amazon is actively preparing for a broader rollout in the near future.
