Fresh reports suggest Apple is preparing a significant camera improvement for the iPhone 18 Pro, with a prominent Weibo tipster claiming the upgrade has effectively been “confirmed.”

According to the latest information, the iPhone 18 Pro will feature a physically larger main camera module compared to the previous generation. As a result, the camera bump is expected to become noticeably thicker, with reports pointing to an increase of roughly 2mm.
The larger camera housing aligns with long-running rumors that Apple plans to introduce a variable-aperture main camera on both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Such a feature would allow the camera to adjust the amount of light entering the lens, potentially improving image quality across a wider range of shooting conditions.
There is also speculation that Apple could be using a larger image sensor. If true, the increased sensor size would further contribute to the larger camera module and thicker camera bump.

Apple is widely expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September alongside the new iPhone Ultra. Meanwhile, multiple reports indicate that the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and possibly the second-generation iPhone Air may not arrive until spring 2027.
While Apple has yet to confirm any details, the growing number of reports pointing to a redesigned camera system suggests the iPhone 18 Pro could deliver one of the most notable photography upgrades in recent years.
