A new rumor suggests that India’s smartphone market could soon welcome another competitor, as wearable technology brand Fire-Boltt is reportedly preparing to expand into smartphones.
Rather than launching handsets under its existing name, the company is said to introduce a separate smartphone brand called Boltt. According to the report, the Fire branding will remain focused on wearables, while Boltt will be used exclusively for smartphones.

Fire-Boltt has already established a presence in India’s consumer electronics sector, accounting for 9.7% of the country’s smartwatch market in 2025. The company now appears ready to challenge established smartphone makers with a strategy centered on affordability and reliability.
Reports indicate that the initial lineup could include two or three smartphone models. All of them are expected to be powered by Unisoc processors and carry price tags below INR 20,000 (approximately $211), positioning them squarely within the highly competitive budget and mid-range segments.
The first Boltt-branded smartphones could reportedly be unveiled as early as next month, although specific details regarding their specifications, design, cameras, or display technology have not yet emerged.

One advantage for Fire-Boltt is its existing retail network, distribution infrastructure, and market presence built through its wearable business. This could help the company establish its smartphone brand more quickly and efficiently than a completely new entrant.
While many details remain unknown, the rumored launch signals Fire-Boltt’s ambitions to broaden its footprint beyond smartwatches and compete in one of India’s largest and most competitive consumer electronics categories.
