Samsung is expected to take a different approach with the Galaxy Z Flip8 compared to its predecessor by offering the foldable with both Exynos and Snapdragon processors, depending on the market.

According to a report from Korean publication The Bell, the Galaxy Z Flip8 will use Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chipset in South Korea and across Europe. All other regions will reportedly receive a Qualcomm-powered version, although the exact processor has yet to be confirmed.

A source from Samsung’s MX division reportedly explained that the Galaxy Z Flip lineup places a stronger emphasis on design and portability than outright performance. As a result, the series is considered a more suitable platform for Samsung’s in-house chipsets compared to the Galaxy Z Fold range.

The report also claims that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and the new Galaxy Z Fold Wide will rely exclusively on Snapdragon processors. Using the Exynos 2600 in select markets could help Samsung reduce costs, improve profitability within its mobile division, and strengthen its semiconductor and foundry businesses amid rising component prices.

The Exynos 2600 is already expected to power the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ in many markets, while North America, China, and Japan receive Snapdragon-powered versions. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is said to use Snapdragon globally.

Previous reports have suggested that the Exynos 2600 trails its Snapdragon counterpart in both performance and battery efficiency. That could present challenges for the Galaxy Z Flip8, especially since the device is rumored to retain the same battery capacity and charging speeds as its predecessor.

Beyond the chipset changes, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is expected to feature a redesigned hinge intended to reduce or eliminate the visibility of the display crease. However, camera hardware is reportedly unchanged from the previous generation.

Samsung is rumored to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold Wide at an event expected to take place on July 22.

The same report also suggests Samsung plans to expand the use of Exynos processors in future devices as component costs continue to rise. If that strategy continues, the Exynos 2700 could find its way into the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ next year.
