On Monday, June 8, Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27, which is widely rumored to introduce a redesigned, AI-powered version of Siri built using Google’s Gemini models. The upgrade has been a long time in development, with Apple first revealing plans for an AI Siri back in June 2024, followed by repeated delays before it finally nears release.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new Siri will initially be labeled as a beta and will require users to join a waitlist before they can access it. It remains unclear whether this waitlist will be limited to the iOS 27 beta phase or if it will continue after the full public release in September.

In its upgraded form, Siri is expected to function as a full chatbot similar to Gemini and ChatGPT, with deep integration across Apple’s operating systems. Gurman also reports that Siri conversations will sync across devices using iCloud, and users will be able to configure automatic memory deletion settings, including options to clear history every 30 days, every year, or never.
