Redmi is reportedly preparing to expand its budget smartphone lineup with the upcoming Redmi 17 5G, which could debut in India alongside the Redmi Turbo 5 next month.

According to a new report, both devices are expected to launch in India on June 18, with the Redmi 17 5G positioned as an entry-level 5G smartphone focused heavily on battery life.

The device is rumored to feature a battery capacity exceeding 7,000mAh, which would make it one of the largest batteries in its category. The phone is also expected to include an LCD display with a high refresh rate, although the exact screen specifications have not yet been revealed.

Performance-wise, the Redmi 17 5G is said to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 series chipset, targeting users looking for affordable 5G connectivity and long battery endurance.

For cameras, the report claims the smartphone will include a 50MP primary rear camera alongside a front-facing 8MP selfie camera.

On the software side, the device is expected to ship with HyperOS based on Android 16 out of the box.

While Redmi has not officially confirmed the existence of the Redmi 17 5G yet, recent reports suggest the company is continuing to prioritize large-battery devices in the affordable smartphone segment as demand for extended battery life grows across emerging markets.
