Google has officially introduced the next generation of its AI platform during Google I/O 2026, unveiling the new Gemini 3.5 lineup alongside Gemini Omni, a system designed to generate and edit videos using multiple forms of input.

The first publicly available model in the new Gemini 3.5 family is Gemini 3.5 Flash, which Google says combines flagship-level intelligence with the fast response times the Flash series is known for. The model is now rolling out globally through the Gemini app and is also becoming available inside AI Mode within Google Search.

According to Google, Gemini 3.5 Flash delivers major improvements in coding, reasoning, and multimodal understanding. The company claims the model even surpasses Gemini 3.1 Pro on several advanced coding and agentic benchmarks, making it the strongest coding-focused Gemini model released so far. It is also becoming the default model across the Gemini platform.

Alongside the updated language models, Google introduced Gemini Omni, a new AI system capable of generating videos from nearly any type of input. Users can combine text, images, audio, and even existing video clips to create entirely new scenes powered by Gemini’s broader understanding of real-world knowledge.

The first release in this lineup, Gemini Omni Flash, focuses heavily on conversational video editing. Users can modify specific elements within a generated clip or completely transform scenes across multiple prompts while maintaining continuity throughout the project.

Google says the model has also been trained with a stronger understanding of real-world physics, including gravity, fluid motion, and kinetic energy, helping generated videos appear more realistic and natural. The platform additionally supports personalized avatars and voice integration, allowing users to create digital versions of themselves for AI-generated content.

To address concerns around AI-generated media, Google confirmed that all videos created using Gemini Omni Flash will include SynthID digital watermarking technology.

The new model is available starting today for subscribers to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans through the Gemini app and Google Flow. Google also confirmed that the technology is rolling out to free users through YouTube Shorts and YouTube Create.
