Spotify is rolling out a long-requested feature that gives users more control over their listening experience—the ability to fully turn off video content in the app.

Starting later this month, users will be able to head into Settings > Content and Display to disable:
Canvas looping visuals
Video content in music and podcasts
Once toggled, these preferences will sync across all devices, including mobile, desktop, web, and even TV apps—so you won’t need to adjust settings individually.
What This Means for Users
This update is especially useful for those who prefer a clean, audio-only experience or want to:
Save data
Reduce distractions
Improve battery life
However, there are a few limitations. Users on the free tier will still see:
Video ads
Some Canvas-style visuals in audio ads
Why It Matters
While Spotify has been pushing video content more aggressively in recent years, not everyone has embraced the shift. This update gives users the freedom to opt out, making the platform more flexible and user-friendly.
In short, Spotify is finally giving control back to listeners—letting you decide whether you want a visual-heavy experience or just pure music.
