After weeks of teasers and leaks, Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Turbo 5 Max in China. The new smartphone stands out primarily for its massive 9,000mAh battery and for being the first device in the world to debut MediaTek’s newly announced Dimensity 9500s chipset, positioning it as a performance-focused device with extreme endurance.
At the heart of the Redmi Turbo 5 Max is the Dimensity 9500s SoC, MediaTek’s latest flagship-class processor. The chipset is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, ensuring fast app launches, smooth multitasking, and high sustained performance. To manage thermals under heavy workloads, Xiaomi has equipped the phone with a large surface vapor chamber cooling system designed to keep temperatures in check during extended gaming or intensive use.
Battery life is clearly one of the phone’s headline features. The Redmi Turbo 5 Max packs a huge 9,000mAh battery, one of the largest ever seen in a mainstream smartphone. Despite the size, charging speeds remain competitive, with support for 100W wired fast charging. The device also offers 27W wired reverse charging, allowing it to power accessories or other smartphones. Xiaomi’s P3 fast charging chipset and G1 battery management chip are included to optimize charging efficiency, safety, and long-term battery health.
On the front, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max features a large 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 12-bit color depth. The panel uses M10 luminescent material and can reach up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness, making it suitable for outdoor visibility. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and animations, along with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for enhanced media playback. Touch responsiveness is also a priority, with a 480Hz touch sampling rate aimed at gamers.
For security and selfies, the device includes a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and a 20MP front-facing camera housed within the display cutout. Around the back, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max sports a dual-camera setup, headlined by a 50MP primary camera using the Light Fusion 600 sensor with optical image stabilization. This is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera for capturing wider scenes.
Software-wise, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max runs Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 layered on top. Additional features include stereo speakers, an infrared sensor, dual-SIM support, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi‑Fi 6. The phone is also rated up to IP69K for dust and water resistance, offering enhanced durability compared to typical midrange devices.
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max is currently available in China through Xiaomi’s official online store. It comes in Auspicious Cloud White, Ocean Blue, Sunshine Orange, and Shadow Black color options. Pricing starts at CNY 2,499 (around $360) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The 12GB/512GB and 16GB/256GB models are both priced at CNY 2,799 (approximately $400), while the top-tier 16GB/512GB version costs CNY 3,099 (about $445).
