What makes a good leader?

I believe a good leader is someone who leads with clarity, integrity, and empathy. Leadership isn’t about authority or titles; it’s about responsibility. A good leader knows where they’re going, communicates that vision clearly, and gives people confidence in the direction, even when the path is difficult.

To me, listening is just as important as speaking. A strong leader values other perspectives, encourages honest feedback, and is willing to learn. They don’t pretend to have all the answers, but they make thoughtful decisions and stand by them. When mistakes happen, they take accountability instead of shifting blame.

I also think a good leader empowers others. They create an environment where people can grow, take initiative, and feel trusted. Rather than seeking personal praise, they celebrate the success of the team and protect them during setbacks.

Above all, a good leader leads by example. Their actions match their words. They stay consistent under pressure, act ethically even when it’s inconvenient, and inspire others not through fear, but through respect and purpose.
