The upcoming iQOO 16R received its first certification in Indonesia last month, and it has now appeared in another database with an unexpected name. Malaysia’s SIRIM certification authority has listed the device under model number I2606, identifying it as the iQOO 16s rather than the 16R.

Interestingly, the same model number was previously spotted under the iQOO 16R name in the GSM Association’s IMEI database and Indonesia’s TKDN listing. This suggests iQOO could market the device as the 16s in Malaysia, although the name it will carry in other markets remains unclear. Unfortunately, the SIRIM certification does not reveal any hardware specifications.
The iQOO 16R, or 16s, is expected to be a rebranded version of the iQOO Z12 Turbo. This would follow the same approach used with the Z11 Turbo, which was introduced as the iQOO 15R in markets outside China. Based on current leaks, the upcoming phone could feature a 6.59-inch display with a refresh rate of at least 165Hz. Its processor could be either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro, while an active cooling fan is also a possibility.

A tipster has also claimed that iQOO’s next generation of performance-focused smartphones is being tested with batteries offering capacities of up to around 10,000mAh. The Z11 Turbo debuted in China in January, followed by the iQOO 15R in February. If the company maintains a similar release schedule, their successors could become official in early 2027.
