WhatsApp has announced several new features, including Group Status, which lets users share Status updates that are visible only to members of a specific group. Group members can view, react to, and like these updates, as well as share their own. Like regular Status updates, Group Status posts disappear after 24 hours.

WhatsApp already allows group admins to share a group’s message history with new members when they are added. Now, members can also share older messages with someone after they have joined the group. To do so, tap the new member’s name in the group chat.

WhatsApp has also introduced the option to pin messages in group chats permanently, with no time limit.

A new chat filter is also available, showing unread group chats where the user has been mentioned or received a direct reply, including messages sent using the @all tag.
