Microsoft has finally opened preorders for the Surface Laptop Ultra, several months after announcing the flagship laptop at Computex. Powered by Nvidia’s RTX Spark SoC, the new device is positioned to compete with Apple’s rumored MacBook Ultra.

The Surface Laptop Ultra is now available for preorder through Microsoft’s official online store and select retailers worldwide. Pricing starts at $2,599, with general sales beginning on October 16.

Microsoft is also offering customers up to $1,000 cashback when they trade in an eligible MacBook Pro while purchasing the Surface Laptop Ultra.

The company has also revealed the price of the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, which costs $5,999. It is currently available for preorder in the US and is expected to begin shipping in November.

The RTX Spark SoC inside the Surface Laptop Ultra combines a Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 6,144 cores and an Nvidia Grace CPU with up to 20 cores. It is paired with 128GB of unified memory.

The laptop also features a 15 inch mini LED touchscreen display, which Microsoft claims offers up to 25% higher peak HDR brightness than the MacBook Pro M5.

The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box is designed to compete with Apple’s Mac Studio and Mac mini. It delivers up to 1 petaflop of AI performance and includes 128GB of unified memory, while using the same RTX Spark SoC as the Surface Laptop Ultra.
