Huawei has announced the global versions of the nova 16 and 16 Pro, arriving as the nova 16s and nova 16s Pro. The phones were originally introduced in China in June, with the global models receiving the company’s usual “s” branding.

The Huawei nova 16s Pro retains the Pro model’s standout 200MP RYYB main camera with an f/1.8 lens and OIS. It is paired with a 1.5MP multi spectral sensor for improved color calibration. The rear setup also includes a 50MP RYYB 3.7x periscope camera with OIS and a 50MP RYYB ultrawide camera with a 118 degree field of view and 2.5cm macro capability. A 50MP camera handles selfies.

The Pro model features a 6.84 inch LTPO OLED display with a 1 to 120Hz refresh rate. It can reach 6,000 nits peak brightness at 1% APL and 4,000 nits dynamic peak brightness at 20% APL. The display also uses 2,160Hz high frequency PWM dimming for brightness control.

The phone packs a 7,000mAh battery with 100W Huawei SuperCharge Turbo through a USB C 2.0 port. Despite measuring only 7.1mm thick, the device weighs 218g.

Its frame uses aerospace grade aluminum alloy, while Kunlun Glass with a nano crystal coating protects the front. Huawei says the glass offers up to 10 times better drop resistance than the nova 15.

The nova 16s Pro comes in four finishes: Isle Blue, Breathing Crystal, Starry Black and Sky White, with a wave inspired design.

The standard Huawei nova 16s is slightly smaller, featuring a 6.68 inch display and a 50MP camera as part of its True to Colour Camera system. It also includes a 50MP RYYB 3.3x periscope camera with OIS.

Despite being thinner at 7.3mm, the nova 16s also carries a 7,000mAh battery with 100W Huawei SuperCharge Turbo and a USB C 2.0 port. Storage starts at 256GB, with a 512GB option available.

Both smartphones ship with EMUI 16.0 rather than HarmonyOS. The nova 16s Pro is powered by the Kirin 9010S, while the nova 16s uses the Kirin 8020 chipset.

Huawei has equipped both models with several AI photography tools. AI Composition provides real time framing suggestions, AI Move lets users reposition objects, and AI Remove eliminates unwanted elements. AI Best Expression selects the best smiles from a group photo, while AI De Glare reduces reflections on glass and glossy surfaces.

Huawei has yet to reveal pricing and exact availability for the nova 16s and nova 16s Pro.
