Samsung introduced the first hardware controlled privacy display on a smartphone with the Galaxy S26 Ultra earlier this year. Xiaomi now appears to be preparing its own version for its upcoming flagship phones, and leaked screenshots have revealed how the Smart Privacy Display feature could work.

The leaked screenshots were reportedly captured from a global ROM and show several customization options for Xiaomi’s privacy display system.

Users will apparently be able to create different groups and assign specific apps to each one, allowing separate privacy display settings depending on the application being used. The feature can also automatically activate when the phone detects sensitive activities such as entering passwords, making payments, transferring money or using messaging apps.

This suggests Xiaomi’s privacy display technology could soon become available beyond Samsung’s flagship offering. The feature is expected to debut on the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max.

Rumors about Xiaomi developing a privacy display first surfaced in June, and the leaked interface now provides a clearer look at how the company plans to implement it. The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to launch in September with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. Both models are also expected to retain their rear displays, which could be slightly larger than those found on their predecessors.
