Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch a new non-foldable smartphone with a wide 16:10 display, following the design direction introduced by the Pura X. The device is now expected to debut in September.

According to previous leaks, the phone will be powered by a Kirin 9 series chipset and could feature a massive battery with a capacity of at least 7,000mAh.

The camera setup is also expected to be impressive, with a 50MP main camera using a 1/1.3 inch sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera and a multispectral camera. The device was originally rumored to launch sometime between October and December, but Huawei has apparently completed development earlier than expected.

Interestingly, Huawei isn’t the only company exploring this unusual form factor. Oppo is also reportedly developing a phone with a 6.3 to 6.4 inch 16:10 display, a flagship chipset and a triple rear camera system that includes a periscope telephoto lens.
