Total Wireless, the Verizon-owned mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), has announced a new partnership with Western Union that adds international money transfer benefits to select wireless plans.
The company says it is the first U.S. wireless carrier to include a global monthly money transfer benefit directly within its service plans, allowing eligible customers to send funds to family and friends in more than 200 countries and territories without paying the usual transfer fees.

The new benefit is available to customers subscribed to the MAX 5G BYO, MAX 5G, and ALL ACCESS plans. Beginning immediately, eligible users can make one qualifying international transfer per month through Western Union’s mobile app or website.
According to Total Wireless, the initiative is designed to address the financial needs of customers who regularly support relatives and loved ones abroad. The company believes the move expands the role of wireless providers beyond connectivity by incorporating practical financial services into everyday mobile plans.
David Kim, President of Verizon Value, said the partnership reflects the company’s belief that wireless plans should deliver benefits that extend beyond traditional mobile services.
He noted that many customers rely on their phones not only to stay connected but also to manage important responsibilities, including supporting family members across borders. By integrating money transfer services into select plans, the company aims to reduce some of the costs associated with international remittances.

Western Union also highlighted the significance of the collaboration. Jesse Mory, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Western Union, stated that money transfers often represent much more than financial transactions, serving as a critical lifeline for families and communities around the world.
The partnership allows eligible customers to combine communication and financial support through a single service relationship, making it easier to stay connected while helping loved ones abroad.
With international remittances playing a major role in many households, Total Wireless’ latest offering represents a unique addition to the U.S. telecom market, blending mobile connectivity with cross-border financial services in a way not previously offered by a wireless carrier.
