Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone could be facing a delay, according to fresh indications from companies within its supply chain.

Recent leaks had suggested Apple was preparing to launch its first foldable device alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup later this year. However, comments from Largan Precision CEO Lin En-ping hint that some major new products have been pushed from late 2026 to early 2027, leading analysts to believe the foldable iPhone is among them.

The device, widely referred to as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, was previously expected to debut as a surprise addition during Apple’s September event. Apple could still choose to preview the device this year and release it later, similar to how it handled the iPhone X, which was announced months before becoming available.

Reports also suggest Apple plans to split the iPhone 18 launch cycle. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected this September, while the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and next-generation iPhone Air could arrive in spring 2027.

A delay would mean Apple misses the foldable market in 2026, despite expectations that it could quickly become one of the industry’s leading foldable smartphone brands. Even so, analysts remain optimistic, with forecasts suggesting Apple’s first foldable iPhone could ship around 11 million units during its first year on the market.
