Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Finally Gets a Long-Requested Network Speed Indicator

Samsung has added a feature to the Galaxy S26 series that Android users on many competing brands have enjoyed for years: a real-time network speed indicator in the status bar.

Previously, Galaxy users who wanted to see their internet speed in real time had to rely on third-party apps or enable hidden firmware options on rooted devices. With One UI 9, Samsung is finally offering the feature natively through the QuickStar module in its Good Lock customization suite.

The feature is currently limited to devices running Android 17-based One UI 9, which is available in beta form for the Galaxy S26 series in six countries. It remains unclear whether Samsung plans to bring support to older One UI versions.

To enable the feature, users need to install Good Lock from either the Google Play Store or Galaxy Store. The required QuickStar version is 15.7.00.27.

Once installed, users can open Good Lock, launch QuickStar from the Plugins section, enable QuickStar, and then navigate to “Visibility of indicator icons.” From there, turning on the “Network Speed” option will add a real-time speed indicator to the top-right corner of the status bar.

While the feature may seem minor, it has been a staple on many Android phones from Chinese manufacturers for years, making its arrival on Samsung devices a welcome addition for users who like keeping an eye on their data speeds without opening a separate app.
