Samsung’s upcoming foldable lineup has taken another step toward launch, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra name now effectively confirmed through a new certification listing. The foldable recently appeared in the Bluetooth SIG database, ending weeks of speculation surrounding Samsung’s naming strategy for its next-generation book-style foldables.

The certification confirms that Samsung will indeed use the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra branding, validating recent reports that suggested a major reorganization of the Fold series lineup. Earlier leaks indicated that the device originally known as the Galaxy Z Fold8 had been renamed the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, while the wider-format model previously referred to as the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide would simply launch as the Galaxy Z Fold8.

The Bluetooth SIG listing does not reveal any hardware specifications, but it does confirm several model numbers associated with the device, including SC-56G, SCG39, SM-F976C, SM-F976Q, and SM-F976Z. The appearance of multiple variants suggests Samsung is preparing the device for a broad international release.

According to previous leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will bring several notable upgrades over the Galaxy Z Fold7. The device is rumored to feature a larger 5,000mAh battery, a significant increase over the Fold7’s 4,400mAh cell. Samsung is also expected to retain support for 45W wired charging, helping users recharge the larger battery more quickly.

Despite the larger battery, the Fold8 Ultra is said to maintain the same weight as its predecessor at 215 grams. Samsung is also reportedly making the device even slimmer, with the foldable measuring just 4.1mm thick when unfolded, approximately 0.1mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold7.

Alongside the Ultra model, Samsung is expected to launch the standard Galaxy Z Fold8. Unlike the taller Ultra, the standard Fold8 is rumored to adopt a wider design featuring a 4:3 aspect ratio folding display. The device is expected to weigh 201 grams and feature a 4,800mAh battery while maintaining the same 45W charging capability as its larger sibling.

Camera improvements are also expected. The standard Fold8 is rumored to include a new 50MP camera sensor with native 24MP image capture support, potentially offering improved image quality and flexibility.

Another major upgrade reportedly coming to both foldables is a significantly improved display crease. Industry insiders claim the crease visibility on the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra could rival that of the Oppo Find N6, one of the most praised foldables in terms of crease management.

Recent dummy unit leaks have already showcased the design differences between the two devices. The Fold8 Ultra appears taller and features a triple-camera setup, while the standard Fold8 adopts a shorter, wider form factor with a dual-camera system.

Samsung is widely expected to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8 during a Galaxy Unpacked event rumored to take place in London on July 22. If the leaks prove accurate, Samsung’s 2026 foldable lineup could represent the company’s most diverse and refined foldable offering to date.
