Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra could address one of the biggest complaints surrounding foldable smartphones: battery capacity. According to new information shared by reliable tipster Ice Universe, the next-generation foldable will feature a larger battery while maintaining the same weight as its predecessor.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is reportedly set to weigh 215 grams, identical to the Galaxy Z Fold7. Despite keeping the weight unchanged, Samsung is said to be increasing the battery capacity from 4,400mAh on the Fold7 to 5,000mAh on the Fold8 Ultra.

If accurate, this would represent a significant improvement in endurance for Samsung’s premium foldable, especially considering the device’s large internal display and multitasking-focused software experience.
Charging speeds are also expected to improve. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is rumored to support 45W wired charging, allowing users to refill the larger battery more quickly than before.
Beyond the battery upgrade, the device is tipped to become even thinner. Ice Universe claims the Fold8 Ultra will measure just 4.1mm when unfolded, making it one of the slimmest book-style foldable smartphones on the market. Despite the reduction in thickness, most of the overall dimensions and display sizes are expected to remain similar to those of the Galaxy Z Fold7.
Recent leaks have also revealed Samsung’s broader foldable strategy for 2026. The company is reportedly preparing two distinct book-style foldables: the standard Galaxy Z Fold8, which features a wider 4:3-style inner display, and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which retains the taller form factor familiar to existing Fold users.
Dummy units that surfaced recently highlighted these differences clearly. The standard Fold8 appears wider and shorter, while the Fold8 Ultra adopts a taller design and includes a triple-camera setup on the rear. The standard Fold8, meanwhile, is expected to feature a dual-camera arrangement.

Samsung is also rumored to have significantly improved the display crease on both devices. Recent reports suggest the crease visibility could be comparable to some of the best foldables currently available, representing another major step forward for the company’s foldable display technology.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8 are expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8 during Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is currently rumored to take place on July 22.
If these leaks prove accurate, the Fold8 Ultra could deliver one of the most meaningful upgrades to Samsung’s foldable lineup in years, combining a larger battery, faster charging, reduced thickness, and improved display technology without increasing the device’s weight.
