Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra Leak Reveals Major Design Differences Ahead of Launch

Samsung’s next-generation foldable lineup is becoming clearer as new dummy units of the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra have appeared in side-by-side comparison photos. The leaked images offer one of the best looks yet at how Samsung plans to differentiate its premium foldable devices when they arrive later this year.

The comparison highlights two noticeably different approaches. The device reportedly known as the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra adopts a taller form factor and features a triple-camera system on the rear. Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 focuses on a wider design with a large 4:3 aspect ratio folding display and a dual-camera setup. This wider format could make the device more appealing for productivity tasks, gaming, and multitasking, offering a tablet-like experience when unfolded.

Although earlier reports referred to the wider model as the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide, recent leaks suggest Samsung has simplified the naming strategy. According to tipster Ice Universe, the wider model will launch simply as the Galaxy Z Fold8, while the previously rumored Fold8 model will now be marketed as the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

The newly surfaced dummy units do not reveal any major surprises beyond confirming the differences in dimensions and camera layouts. However, they provide a clearer understanding of Samsung’s strategy for the foldable market. Rather than offering a single flagship foldable, Samsung appears ready to target different user preferences with two distinct designs.

Interestingly, the color of the devices has generated some discussion among fans. In some images the rear panels appear white or silver, while other photos from the same source show them in a blue finish. The discrepancy could simply be the result of lighting conditions rather than multiple color variants, although Samsung is expected to offer several color options at launch.

Additional details shared by Ice Universe suggest that the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 will feature a 4,800mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. The device is also said to weigh approximately 201 grams, making it lighter than many current foldable smartphones. Another notable upgrade could be a new 50MP camera sensor that supports native 24MP image capture, potentially improving image quality and processing efficiency.

One of the most important improvements reportedly coming to both devices is a significantly reduced display crease. Foldable smartphones have made major strides in recent years, but visible creases remain one of the most common criticisms. Recent reports claim that Samsung’s latest foldable displays will offer crease visibility comparable to the Oppo Find N6, which is widely regarded as one of the best foldables in this area.

If accurate, this would represent a major advancement for Samsung’s foldable technology and could help the company maintain its leadership position in the increasingly competitive foldable smartphone market.

Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold8 series alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8 during its next major Galaxy Unpacked event. As more leaks continue to surface, anticipation is building around what could be one of Samsung’s most ambitious foldable lineups yet.
