Apple has rolled out iOS 26.5.1 and macOS 26.5.1, bringing important bug fixes just days before the company unveils its next-generation operating systems.
The iOS 26.5.1 update focuses on fixing a charging issue affecting a small number of iPhone Air and iPhone 17 users. According to Apple, the bug could prevent wired charging from working when the battery was nearly depleted — a particularly frustrating problem since that’s exactly when users need charging the most. The update resolves the issue and is now available for eligible devices.

Apple has also released macOS 26.5.1 for Mac users. This update targets enterprise environments and fixes a bug that could cause Macs powered by the M5 chip to unexpectedly shut down when using certain content-filtering network extensions.
While neither update introduces new features, both address issues that could significantly impact affected users, making them worthwhile installs.

The timing is notable, as Apple is set to unveil iOS 27 and macOS 27 on June 8 during its annual developer event. The new operating systems are expected to bring major design and feature upgrades before their public release later this year, likely in September.
For now, users are encouraged to update to iOS 26.5.1 and macOS 26.5.1 to ensure their devices benefit from the latest fixes and stability improvements.
