A new leak suggests Samsung may be making a major breakthrough with the Galaxy Z Fold8 series. According to tipster Ice Universe, the latest prototypes feature a display crease comparable to the one found on the Oppo Find N6, a device widely praised for having one of the least noticeable creases in the foldable market.

The claim follows earlier reports that Samsung was developing new display technology capable of reducing crease visibility by around 20%. While Ice Universe previously stated that crease improvements were minimal, the tipster has now clarified that those comments referred to an early test version. The latest prototypes reportedly show much better results.
The leak also claims Samsung has adjusted its naming strategy for the lineup:
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (previously rumored as the original Fold8)
Galaxy Z Fold8 (previously referred to as the Fold8 Wide)
If accurate, Samsung could be positioning the Ultra model as its top-tier foldable offering while simplifying the branding of the standard model.
Other rumored details include:
Significantly reduced display crease visibility
No Privacy Screen technology from the Galaxy S26 Ultra
Lack of S Pen support
Possible launch date of July 22, 2026

Samsung has spent years improving foldable displays, but the crease remains one of the biggest visual compromises compared to traditional smartphones. Matching the crease performance of Oppo’s foldables would represent a notable step forward and could help Samsung strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive foldable market.
For now, these details remain unofficial, but with the rumored launch only weeks away, more information about the Galaxy Z Fold8 series is likely to surface soon.
