A new rumor suggests that Apple is planning a major redesign for the upcoming Apple Watch Ultra 4, potentially marking the first significant visual overhaul for the premium smartwatch lineup since the original model debuted in 2022.

While the source behind the leak did not reveal any specific design details, it claims that the next-generation Ultra model will look noticeably different from previous versions. If accurate, this would represent a major shift for Apple’s rugged smartwatch series, which has largely maintained the same industrial design since launch.

Beyond the rumored exterior changes, the report also points to substantial improvements in the device’s sensing capabilities. The exact meaning remains unclear, however. Apple could introduce entirely new health and fitness sensors, or it may simply improve the performance and efficiency of the existing sensor system found in current Ultra models.

The leak also highlights potential benefits for Taiwan-Asia Semiconductor, which reportedly serves as Apple’s exclusive supplier of sensor components for the Ultra lineup. According to the report, production demand for the upgraded sensors could begin increasing as early as July, with stronger orders expected during the second half of the year.

That timeline strongly suggests the Apple Watch Ultra 4 could debut during Apple’s traditional September launch event alongside the rumored iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the long-rumored iPhone Ultra.

The rumor also claims Apple is preparing additional “Ultra” branded products in the future, including the AirPods Ultra and a potential MacBook Ultra, signaling a broader expansion of the company’s premium-tier branding strategy.
