Google has rolled out a new feature for Gemini that allows users to generate complete files directly from prompts, significantly expanding its usefulness beyond simple text responses. The update introduces support for a wide range of file formats, making it easier to move work across different platforms without additional formatting steps.

With this new capability, Gemini can now create Workspace files such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides, alongside other widely used formats including PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, LaTeX, plain text (TXT), Rich Text Format (RTF), and Markdown (MD). This makes it versatile for everything from writing documents and reports to generating structured data and technical content.

The feature is being made available globally, meaning all Gemini users can now access it without restrictions. Users simply need to provide a prompt describing the file they want, and Gemini will generate it accordingly, eliminating the need for manual formatting or conversion between applications.

According to Google, the goal of this update is to streamline workflows by allowing users to create content that can be easily transferred into other tools and ecosystems. Instead of copying and pasting text into separate apps and reformatting it, users can now generate ready-to-use files in their desired format from the start.

For most supported file types, once a file is created, users have the option to download it directly to their device or export it to Google Drive for further editing or sharing. This added flexibility positions Gemini as a more practical tool for both personal and professional productivity tasks.
