Meta has introduced a long-awaited feature to Instagram—users can now edit their comments after posting them.

The catch is timing. You only get a 15-minute window to make changes after a comment is posted. Once that time passes, the comment is locked and can no longer be edited.

Within that window, you can edit a comment as many times as you want, but only the text portion. If your comment includes a photo, that part can’t be modified.

There’s also a transparency element—edited comments will display an “Edited” label, so others know changes were made. However, Instagram won’t show any version history, meaning previous edits remain hidden.

It’s a simple but meaningful update that helps fix typos or rephrase thoughts quickly, without giving users unlimited control to alter conversations long after they’ve happened.
