With the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, attention has already shifted to what Samsung may have planned next. Early leaks suggest the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra could receive a major camera upgrade built around a brand-new 200MP ISOCELL sensor currently in development.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Samsung is working on a flagship 200MP sensor reportedly called HPA. The sensor is said to feature a large 1/1.12-inch format and may enter production in 2027. It is also rumored to support LOFIC technology, which should improve dynamic range and overall image processing performance.

While the Galaxy S27 Ultra was not directly mentioned, it would be the most logical device to debut such a sensor. However, another tipster, Ice Universe, claims the S27 Ultra may instead use a refined variant called HP6. This version is said to have a slightly smaller 1/1.3-inch sensor size but deliver performance close to the larger HPA.
If these leaks prove accurate, Samsung may finally introduce meaningful camera hardware changes to its Ultra lineup after several years of incremental upgrades. With the Galaxy S27 series still over a year away, more details are expected to surface in the coming months.
