Honor Power 2 Launches With a Massive 10,080mAh Battery and Dimensity 8500 Elite

Honor has officially unveiled the Honor Power 2 in China, and it is immediately turning heads for one reason: its enormous 10,080mAh silicon-carbon battery packed into a smartphone that is still under 8mm thick. This launch highlights how far battery technology has evolved, as capacities once reserved for bulky rugged phones are now making their way into slim, mainstream devices. According to Honor, the Power 2 can deliver over 26 hours of video playback, 17 hours of continuous navigation, or around 14 hours of nonstop gaming on a single charge, making it one of the longest-lasting smartphones announced so far.

Despite the huge battery, Honor has managed to keep the phone relatively slim at 7.98mm and a weight of 216 grams. Charging is equally impressive, with support for 80W wired fast charging, ensuring the large battery can be topped up quickly. The Honor Power 2 also doubles as a power bank, offering reverse wired charging at up to 27W, allowing users to charge other phones and accessories directly from the device. This focus on endurance and versatility positions the Power 2 as a practical choice for heavy users, travelers, and gamers.

Beyond battery life, the Honor Power 2 offers a well-rounded set of modern specifications. It features a 6.79-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches up to 1,800 nits of peak local brightness and integrates an in-display fingerprint scanner, along with a 16MP front camera. Durability is another strong point, as the phone carries full IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, providing extensive protection against dust, water, and high-pressure sprays.

Under the hood, the Power 2 is the first smartphone powered by MediaTek’s new Dimensity 8500 Elite chipset. The processor uses an all-big-core CPU design based on ARM Cortex-A725 cores, with a prime core clocked at 3.4GHz, supported by three performance cores at 3.2GHz and four efficiency-focused cores at 2.2GHz. Graphics duties are handled by the Mali-G720 MC8 GPU. In early benchmark results, the chipset reportedly scores over 2.4 million points on AnTuTu, placing it firmly in upper-midrange to near-flagship territory. The phone is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

Camera hardware on the Honor Power 2 is straightforward but capable. The rear setup includes a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an f/1.9 aperture, accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide lens. Software duties are handled by MagicOS 10, based on Android 16, bringing the latest Android features and optimizations out of the box. The phone launches in Midnight Black, Sunrise Orange, and Snowfield White color options. Pricing in China starts at CNY 2,699 for the 12GB/256GB model and goes up to CNY 2,999 for the 12GB/512GB variant, with sales beginning on January 9. For now, Honor has not confirmed whether the Power 2 will be released outside China.
