iPhone Fold vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold: How Their Foldable Screens Compare

Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone is shaping up to compete directly with Samsung’s next wide Galaxy Z Fold, with both devices focusing on wider, more practical displays rather than tall, narrow designs.

The iPhone Fold is expected to feature a wider outer display around 5.5 inches, making it feel closer to a regular smartphone when closed. When unfolded, it reportedly offers a near-square 7.8-inch inner screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, similar to the iPad mini. This layout favors reading, multitasking, and productivity over cinematic video viewing.
Samsung’s upcoming wide Galaxy Z Fold appears to mirror this approach. Leaked comparisons suggest an unfolded display of roughly 7.6 inches with a wider aspect ratio than previous Galaxy Z Fold models. The wider cover screen also improves everyday usability, addressing one of the biggest criticisms of earlier Samsung foldables.

Both companies are clearly shifting toward foldables that feel natural in daily use. Apple is expected to focus heavily on reducing display creases, while Samsung continues refining its hinge and panel technology. If these designs launch as expected, foldable phones may finally deliver a balanced smartphone-tablet experience without major compromises.
