WhatsApp is continuing to expand its cmunication tools, with the latest beta version for Android introducing a voicemail-like feature designed to make missed calls more seamless to follow up.
Streamlining Missed Call Responses

Spotted in beta version 2.25.23.21 by WABetaInfo, the new feature allows users to quickly send a voice message when a WhatsApp call goes unanswered. After an unsuccessful call attempt, the interface will now present three options: Call Again, Cancel, and a new Record Voice Message shortcut.
This shortcut will also appear directly in the chat with the recipient, enabling users to leave a quick audio update without navigating through additional menus.
Convenience Over Manual Voice Notes
While WhatsApp already supports sending voice notes via the paperclip icon in chats, this new approach reduces the steps required, making it faster to leave a message in real time. It mirrors the convenience of traditional voicemail, but within WhatsApp’s encrypted messaging environment.
Limited Beta Availability
According to WABetaInfo, the feature is currently available to select beta testers on Android. There is no confirmed timeline for a wider rollout, and WhatsApp has not yet commented on when it might reach the general user base.
If rolled out globally, this voicemail-style tool could further bridge the gap between live calls and asynchronous messaging, offering users a smoother way to stay connected when calls can’t be answered.
