Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold 2 and Galaxy Z Slide are on the way, first details leak

Samsung may have discontinued the original Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold in Korea after a short run, but it looks like the company isn’t done experimenting with new form factors just yet.

According to a new leak, Samsung is already working on a successor, likely to be called the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold 2. The device is rumored to launch in mid-2027 and is expected to bring major design improvements.

One of the key upgrades will be a thinner and lighter build. The TriFold 2 is said to be only slightly thicker than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, which measures 8.9mm when folded. That’s a big improvement compared to the original TriFold’s 12.9mm folded thickness, suggesting a much more refined design.

In addition to the TriFold successor, Samsung is also reportedly developing its first sliding-screen smartphone, tentatively referred to as the Samsung Galaxy Z Slide. Unlike foldables, this device would expand its display by sliding rather than folding.

The Galaxy Z Slide is still in the prototype stage, with a possible release window set for late 2027 or early 2028, depending on development progress.

While these timelines are still far off and subject to change, the leaks indicate that Samsung is continuing to explore new and experimental device designs beyond traditional foldables.
